Earning any XP in a week puts you on a board with other learners in your league. Your position updates live after every lesson. Weeks run from Monday to Sunday, on one clock (UTC) for everyone.
Finish the week in the promotion zone. When the week ends:

No. Every learner on your board is a real person. While Teyro is growing, everyone active may share one weekly board; once enough people are learning, it splits into leagues of around 30.
Leagues are optional motivation. Your streak and daily quests work fine on their own — but for many people a board of real names is what gets one more lesson done on Sunday night.

A full week with no XP drops you one league. Bronze is the floor, so you can never fall below it.
